Welcome
An Apple a Day Does Keep the Doctor Away According to Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Alternative Medicine Program and the University of Arizona, apples have antioxidants including polyphenols, pectin, triterpenoids, and quercetin. Antioxidants neutralize toxins in your body and help prevent illness. Apples have been credited with helping to prevent colon, breast, and pancreatic cancers. Researchers have said that apple eaters were 21 percent less likely to have a large waist and more likely to have lower blood pressure readings. Apples are thought to help prevent "clogging" of the arteries as well. Apples are the second most pesticide laden produce, second only to peaches. When possible, buy organic apples. Prices for organic produce can be similar to conventional produce at some stores. Try to give your children only organic fruits and vegetables as the pesticide load is overwhelming to their small bodies. The antioxidants are found most in the peel of the apple. It is better to eat apples than to drink apple juice. The juice tends to increase blood sugar and provide too many calories. Fruit sugar in the form of juice is a common cause of high triglycerides [fats in the blood effected by fat, sugar, and alcohol in the diet.] 'Keep the doctor away! Eat an apple a day.
